News Release: Police Investigate Road Rage Incident Involving Firearm

Police are investigating a road rage incident that occurred last Wednesday night, where one of the suspects brandished a firearm at the victim.  There were no physical injuries, and the suspects are unknown and at large.

On Wednesday, September 28, 2022, at about 9:58 p.m., our 24-hour dispatch center received a call reporting a brandishing that had just occurred on Oregon Expressway at Middlefield Road.  Officers responded immediately but could not locate the suspects.

The investigation revealed that the victim, a man in his thirties, had been driving northbound on U.S. Highway 101 when he initially observed the suspect vehicle, a white Chevrolet sports utility vehicle.  It was swerving in and out of lanes, and the victim said he had to move out of the way to avoid a collision.  Both vehicles exited on Oregon Expressway, and when they approached Middlefield Road, the driver of the suspect vehicle “brake-checked” the victim and then stopped in the roadway in front of him.  A female suspect got out of the driver’s seat while a male suspect got out of a passenger seat.  The woman pointed a black handgun at the victim and said she was going to shoot him.  The victim attempted to reverse his vehicle but could not go far due to another car behind him.  The suspects returned to their vehicle and drove off westbound on Oregon Expressway.

The victim said the suspects were a Black female and a Black male, both in their twenties.  He said the female was wearing a black jacket, while the male was wearing a white shirt with blue jeans.  The victim said there was another Black male who remained in the suspect vehicle.

Police received no other calls about this case from any passersby, nor were officers able to locate any witnesses.  Police are asking anyone who may have witnessed this incident to please call our 24-hour dispatch center at (650) 329-2413.  Anonymous tips can be e-mailed to [email protected] or sent via text message or voice mail to (650) 383-8984.
