Halloween Safety Tips
At some point today, please review our Halloween safety tips to ensure we all have a safe and fun night!
- Tell your kids they should never enter a stranger's home while trick-or-treating.
- Drivers should slow down and be extra-attentive for pedestrians, especially those who may dart out into the street unexpectedly.
- Trick-or-treaters should carry a flashlight or glow stick and cross the street at well-lit intersections (using traffic signals and crosswalks whenever available), not from between parked cars.
- Parents should inspect all treats before allowing kids to eat them.
- Choose a safe costume: one that is easily visible in low-light situations or that has reflective material on it (you can always add reflective tape to a costume or candy bag), and that fits well enough that it will not hamper movement.
- Avoid trick-or-treating alone; go with a parent or trusted responsible adult and stay together.
- Ensure kids know your cell phone number and their home address in case you become separated.
