Advisory

High wind warning in effect for East Jefferson County from 8PM to 2AM tonight, 11/4.

A High Wind Warning is in effect for much of East Jefferson County beginning 8PM tonight, Friday, November 4th, through 2AM.

Residents can expect westerly winds in the 30MPH to 40MPH range, with gusts up to 55MPH expected.

Wind speeds may abruptly pick up around 8PM, and is expected to be strongest between 9PM and 11PM, primarily in the Port Townsend area, weakening as you head south. Wind will begin to taper off around midnight, but it may remain gusty until early tomorrow morning.

This forecast is subject to change, and residents are encouraged to stay up to date by checking the latest weather reports around the incoming system at www.weather.gov.

Residents are advised to exercise extreme caution when traveling in windy weather, especially in high profile vehicles. Avoid recreating in forested areas, as falling debris can cause injury and create travel hazards. Residents may want to secure loose items, like lawn furniture, that may be likely to be moved during gusty winds.

Power outages may occur throughout the wind event. You can check the status of power in the area at PUD's outage map at https://ebill.jeffpud.org/maps/Outag_Web_Map/

You can report outages at 360-385-5800.

The Hood Canal Bridge may close when experiencing sustained winds of 40MPH for 15 minutes or more to relieve pressure on the bridge span, or during other hazardous situations depending on other factors. You can find the status of the bridge here: https://wsdot.com/travel/real-time/hoodcanalbridgestatus
