Advisory

Fairfield Expecting Moderate/Heavy Rainfall, Winds and Potential Flooding from Wednesday, January 4

Solano County, including Fairfield, is bracing for the arrival of two major storms – first Wednesday, January 3 (tomorrow) through Thursday, January 4, and then again Saturday, January 6 through Monday, January 9.

Expect:

  • Damaging winds with gusts up to 60 mph that may cause downed trees and power lines. The winds will also likely cause impacts to unsecured items, including temporary structures and cause difficult driving conditions. Winds are expected to be at their strongest Wednesday morning (10 am) through Thursday afternoon (4 pm).
  • Saturated ground and weakened trees from recent storms to increase potential for trees to be blown down.
  • Moderate to heavy rain will create conditions for possible flooding, although not *expected* to reach levels seen over the New Year holiday weekend.
  • Widespread power outages. To view the PG&E Outage Map, click here https://pgealerts.alerts.pge.com/outagecenter/.
Preparedness Tips: Due to the impending inclement weather, residents and business owners can pick up sandbags from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Tuesday, January 3 through Thursday, January 5, 2023, and Monday, January 9 through Friday, January 13 at the Public Works Corporation Yard at 420 Gregory Street.
  • Sand will also be available at the corner of Pittman and Cordelia Roads and at the southeast corner of Allan Witt Park, off Woolner Avenue.
  • To report localized flooding, please contact the Public Works Operations Division, Monday through Thursday, 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., and on open Fridays, 7:30 a.m. to 4:00p.m. at (707) 428-7407.
  • The Operations Division is closed every other Friday of the month and on weekends. After hours, please call the Police Department at (707) 428-7300.
