Winter weather watch for entire County of Napa Starting 4am Wednesday 01/04. Potential flooding and power outages anticipated due to high winds. Please exercise caution when driving. Additional information and Sandbag information below:
* WHAT...
Winds: From the South 20 to 30 mph with gusts up to 50 mph in valley locations. 30 to 40 mph with gusts up to 60 mph above 1000 feet. Local gusts to around 70 mph coast and highest peaks.
Rain: Wednesday-Thursday 3”-5” in the valley’s, 4”-6” in the hills, and up to 8”-10” in the mountains. Heaviest rain is late Wednesday morning into early Thursday morning. Friday-Sunday 1”-2” in the valleys and up to 4.5” in higher terrain. Saturday and Sunday look to have the most rainfall but confidence is still low on details.
* IMPACTS...Damaging winds will blow down trees and power lines. Widespread power outages are expected. Travel will be difficult, especially for high profile vehicles.
* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...Saturated soils will allow for trees to topple more easily during this prolonged wind event. The strongest winds will be during the cold frontal passage late Wednesday afternoon through early Thursday morning.
