US 550 Mountain Corridor between Durango and Ouray: set to close Wed., Feb. 15 at 8:00 a.m. Wednesday morning, winter maintenance operations are planned for Coal Bank Pass, Molas Pass and Red Mountain Pass. Crews will make an effort to allow traffic through intermittently however, closures along the US 550 mountain corridor will last the majority of the day.
...AVALANCHE WARNING IN EFFECT 5PM TUESDAY UNTIL 5PM THURSDAY...
*WHAT...The Avalanche Danger will rise to HIGH (Level 4 of 5) during Tuesday night continuing till Thursday evening.
*WHERE...North and South San Juan Mountains including the La Garita Mountains, Rico Mountains, La Plata Mountains and areas from Telluride through Silverton to Wolf Creek Pass and the New Mexico Border.
*WHEN... In effect from 5PM Tuesday, February 14 until 5PM on Thursday, February 16.
*IMPACTS...Heavy snow and strong winds have created dangerous avalanche conditions in the backcountry. Large and dangerous avalanches will be very easy to trigger in many places. Avalanches will run naturally.
