ARRAIGNMENT/BAIL STATUS: Basini was turned over to the custody of the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office for further court proceedings at Montgomery County Court where she was arraigned and released on her own recognizance.
INCIDENT NARRATIVE: Following tips from the community of suspected drug dealing in the area of Sloane Avenue the Amsterdam Police Department launched an investigation which produced 35 year-old Megan L. Basini as a suspect. During the investigation Megan L. Basini did sell a controlled substance to a police source. As a result of the investigation charges of Criminal Sale of a Controlled Substance 3rd and Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance 3rd were presented to a Montgomery County grand jury for an indictment. Based upon the probable cause presented in court the grand jury indicted Basini on the aforementioned charges. An arrest warrant was then issued for Basini. Basini was located at her residence in the City of Amsterdam and taken into custody without incident. Basini was transported to Amsterdam Police Headquarters where she was processed on the above charges. The Amsterdam Police Department was assisted by the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office and the Montgomery County District Attorney’s Office on this investigation.
While there was probable cause for this arrest, all persons are presumed innocent until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law.
