Updated Information on Tonight's Armed Robberies
Update as of 10:35 p.m. on Monday night: these two cases remain under active investigation with officers still following leads at this hour.
As a result, we will have no additional information available for release tonight. We will distribute a news release in the morning.
Original post below:
We are investigating two armed robberies that occurred within 25 minutes of one another in the south end of Palo Alto starting at 6:35 p.m. Fortunately, there were no physical injuries to victims, and the suspects fled in a white SUV, possibly a Kia.
The first occurred in the 1100blk of Trinity Lane and began when a neighbor may have interrupted an auto burglary. One suspect pointed a handgun as they fled. The second crime was in the 800blk of Marshall Drive, where the suspects robbed a woman at gunpoint and took her phone.
Preliminary info suggests the same suspects committed both crimes. The suspects are both Black males in their twenties, at least one armed with a handgun. A third suspect, also a Black male, was driving the vehicle.
We’ll have a news release out later tonight once we’ve had a chance to complete the preliminary investigations.
