As the 41st anniversary of Sarah Geer’s murder approaches, the police department would like to share an update on the progress of the unsolved murder investigation, which was reopened in July 2021.
Kevin Cline, Cline Investigation, LLC., an experienced investigator with a licensed PI firm that performs professional investigative services throughout CA, grew up in Cloverdale and is a former classmate of Sarah. He was contracted to work on the case and has been actively working alongside Cloverdale Police Sergeant Sal Borruso. Between their other full-time responsibilities, they have also focused on reviewing the existing reports, documents, and evidence from the original case file as well as retracing the steps of the crime scene.
During their investigation, the investigators were able to identify, locate, and interview several individuals that were never contacted or interviewed in this case. As a result, the investigators developed new leads that they are actively following up on.
In August of 2021, the investigators submitted several items of tangible evidence that were initially recovered from the crime scene to a highly-rated, well-known crime lab in the bay area for DNA testing. Due to the high volume of active cases, the investigators have yet to receive the final lab results.
The investigation team is seeking additional leads and further requests that anyone who was the victim of an assault and/or attack by a known or unknown male in or around the City of Cloverdale between 1980 and 1984 contact the investigators at [email protected]. Please report your incident, even if you have reported the original crime to law enforcement and the suspect was arrested/charged or unidentified.
