Press Release: Fairfield Police Arrest Driver in May 31 Hit-and-Run that Left Motorcyclist in Critical Condition
Police have arrested 32-year-old Lester Hogan Atkinson of Fairfield for a hit-and-run incident last month that left a 20-year-old motorcyclist severely injured.
On May 31, at around 10:50 pm, the victim was traveling westbound on SR 12 on his motorcycle, approaching Pennsylvania Avenue, when he was struck by a vehicle traveling southbound on Pennsylvania Avenue, approaching SR 12.
According to witnesses, shortly before the accident, the vehicle ran a red light to make a westbound turn onto west SR 12. After hitting the motorcyclist, the driver did not stop and continued westbound onto SR 12.
The Traffic Unit quickly responded to the scene and initiated an investigation, identifying the suspect vehicle. The 2018 black Dodge Challenger was recovered on June 7 in Vallejo.
Today, June 8, the Traffic Unit served a search warrant on a residence in Fairfield. During the service of the search warrant, Officers arrested the owner of the suspect vehicle,
Lester Atkinson, for the May 31 hit-and-run. They also recovered a firearm from the residence.
The victim remains in critical condition.
