ARRAIGNMENT/BAIL STATUS: Thomas was arraigned in front of Judge Lorman in Amsterdam City Court and remanded to the custody of the Montgomery County Correctional Facility.
INCIDENT NARRATIVE: Pursuant to an active and ongoing investigation into the sale of illegal narcotics occurring within the City of Amsterdam. The Amsterdam Police Department in conjunction with the APD/ MCSO Regional SWAT team and the New York State Police (VGNET) executed search warrants on Monday June 20th at 241 East Main Street and 58 Jay Street within the City of Amsterdam.
At 241 East Main Street police located and arrested the target of the investigation Deshon R. Thomas. Thomas was taken into custody on an active arrest warrant out of Amsterdam City Court for Criminal Sale of a Controlled Substance. During the subsequent search of the residence detectives located a quantity of cocaine, digital scales, a rifle, and U.S. currency.
At 58 Jay Street Police located a quantity of U.S. currency and drug packaging items associated with the trafficking of narcotics.
Thomas was transported to Amsterdam Police headquarters where he was processed on the above charges. The Amsterdam Police Department was assisted by the New York State Police Violent Gangs & Narcotics Engagement Team, the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office, and the Office of the Montgomery County District Attorney Lorraine Diamond.
While there was probable cause for this arrest, all persons are presumed innocent until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law.
