ARRAIGNMENT/BAIL STATUS: Beverly was processed at Amsterdam Police headquarters where he was arraigned in Amsterdam City Court in front of the Honorable Judge Lisa W. Lorman and remanded to the Montgomery County Correctional Facility without bail.
INCIDENT NARRATIVE: On June 19th at approximately 8:23 a.m. Amsterdam Police were notified of a burglary that occurred at a residence on Union Street. Amsterdam patrol officers responded where they determined that a male suspect had forced entry into the residence by damaging an exterior door. The male suspect had previously been observed on the property attempting to gain entry in the recent past and through the investigation the male was later identified as Preston J. Beverly.
At approximately 9:37a.m. On June 20th Amsterdam patrol officers located Beverly on Storrie Street where he was taken into custody and transported to Amsterdam Police headquarters for processing and held for arraignment.
While there was probable cause for this arrest, all persons are presumed innocent until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law.
