* Severe Thunderstorm Warning for... Northwestern Garrett County in western Maryland... Grant County in eastern West Virginia... Southwestern Mineral County in eastern West Virginia...

* Until 1100 PM EDT.

* At 1021 PM EDT, severe thunderstorms were located along a line extending from near Terra Alta to 8 miles southeast of Hendricks, moving east at 40 mph. HAZARD...60 mph wind gusts. SOURCE...Radar indicated. IMPACT...Damaging winds will cause some trees and large branches to fall. This could injure those outdoors, as well as damage homes and vehicles. Roadways may become blocked by downed trees. Localized power outages are possible. Unsecured light objects may become projectiles.

* Locations impacted include... Petersburg, Mountain Lake Park, Oakland, Bayard, Piedmont, Loch Lynn Heights, Deer Park, Elk Garden, Kitzmiller, Franklin, Luke, Redhouse, Hutton, Gorman, Deep Creek Lake State Park, Crellin, Swallow Falls State Park, Big Run State Park, McComas Beach and Merrill.

* AFFECTED AREAS: GARRETT, MD ... GRANT, WV ... MINERAL, WV

For your protection move to an interior room on the lowest floor of a building. Large hail and damaging winds and continuous cloud to ground lightning is occurring with these storms. Move indoors immediately. Lightning is one of nature's leading killers. Remember, if you can hear thunder, you are close enough to be struck by lightning. Torrential rainfall is occurring with these storms, and may lead to flash flooding. Do not drive your vehicle through flooded roadways.
