News Release: Police Investigate Strong-Arm Robbery of Necklace
Police are investigating a strong-arm robbery that occurred early Monday morning in a residential backyard in Palo Alto, where an unknown suspect took a man’s necklace. The suspect is at large.
On Monday, July 24, 2023, at about 12:26 a.m., our 24-hour dispatch center received a call of a strong-arm robbery that had just occurred on private property on the 3000 block of Ross Road. Officers responded immediately but could not locate the suspect.
The investigation revealed that the victim, a man in his forties, had been in his backyard when male subject emerged from the foliage and demanded money. When the victim refused, the suspect forcibly ripped a necklace from the victim’s neck and fled on foot. The victim was not injured.
The victim described the suspect as a Hispanic male in his forties, standing about 5 feet 10 inches tall with a thin build. He was cleanshaven, wearing a blue hooded sweatshirt and dark pants.
Police are actively investigating this case. There have been no similar robberies in Palo Alto recently.
