News Release: No Bomb Found After Threat at Downtown Restaurant
Police investigated a phoned-in bomb threat this morning involving a downtown restaurant. No bomb was found.
On Friday, July 28,2023, at about 11:42 a.m., our 24-hour dispatch center received a call from a male subject reporting that he had placed a bomb inside of the Sancho’s Taqueria restaurant located at 491 Lytton Ave. Officers responded to the area immediately.
Police searched the entire premises with the assistance of a canine certified in explosives detection from the Stanford Department of Public Safety. No bomb was found. Police declared the scene safe at about 12:45 p.m.
Several businesses were briefly evacuated, and adjacent streets closed, until those businesses could be searched. Detectives are actively investigating the case. The suspect who called is an unknown adult male.
