* WHAT...Flooding caused by excessive rainfall is expected.
* WHERE...A portion of Southeast Kansas, including the following counties, Allen, Neosho, Wilson and Woodson.
* WHEN...Until 245 PM CDT Wednesday.
* IMPACTS...Flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations is imminent or occurring. Streams continue to rise due to excess runoff from earlier rainfall. Expect many areas of slow moving or standing water.
* ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - At 652 AM CDT, gauge reports indicated heavy rain due to thunderstorms. Flooding is ongoing or expected to begin shortly in the warned area. Between 1.5 and 4 inches of rain have fallen. - Some locations that will experience flooding include... Parsons, Chanute, Iola, Neodesha, Fredonia, Humboldt, Yates Center, La Harpe, Gas, Thayer, Altoona, Toronto, Buffalo, Galesburg, Benedict, New Albany, Earlton, Coyville, Bassett and Chanute Airport.
* AFFECTED AREAS: ALLEN, KS ... NEOSHO, KS ... WILSON, KS ... WOODSON, KS
Instructions:
Do not drive into flooded areas or go around barricades. Nearly two feet of water will carry most vehicles away. Turn around, don't drown. Please report observed flooding to local emergency services or law enforcement and request they pass this information to the National Weather Service when you can do so safely.
