ARRAIGNMENT/BAIL STATUS: Torres was processed at Amsterdam Police Headquarters where he then was arraigned in Amsterdam City Court and released on his own recognizance.
INCIDENT NARRATIVE: Pursuant to an active and ongoing investigation into the sale of illegal narcotics occurring within the City of Amsterdam, the City of Amsterdam Detective Bureau executed a search warrant on Wednesday, 11/1/2023 at 56 Hibbard Street, Apartment #1F. During the search of the residence, detectives located and seized a quantity of cocaine, hydrocodone pills and paraphernalia associated with the trafficking of narcotics. The target of the investigation, Jose J. Torres, was wanted on an active arrest warrant after selling controlled substances to police sources during the investigation. Torres was transported to the Amsterdam Police Department, where he was processed on the above charges. The Amsterdam Police Department was assisted by the Montgomery County District Attorney’s Office and the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office in this investigation.
While there is probable cause for this arrest, all persons are presumed innocent until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law.
