SRPD Participates in "No-Shave November"
For the seventh year, residents can anticipate South River Police Officers and staff members sporting mustaches and beards.
“As part of the South River Police Department’s and South River PBA's participation in the No-Shave November campaign, the usually well-groomed officers and employees from the South River Police Department will be ditching their razors for the month all in the name of raising money and awareness for cancer”, Chief Mark Tinitigan announced. “Residents in South River can expect our officers to be sporting more facial hair than usual during the month of November”.
No-Shave November is all about embracing our hair, which many patients lose during cancer treatment. Money typically spent on razors and shaving during the month is instead donated to charity for cancer research and to aid those fighting cancer battles. Each participating officer has personally made a monetary donation to the cause.
“I look forward to seeing our department displaying facial hair for a worthwhile cause and thank our officers and employees for participating”, Tinitigan further said. “Starting in December, our department’s grooming policy will be back in full effect until next November”.
Donations on behalf of the South River PBA can be made directly to No-Shave.org under their team (see the link below). The goal of the department is to raise $1,000 initially. Last year we surpassed this goal. Can we do it again? Residents can keep an eye on our department’s various social media accounts for updates and pictures during the month.
