The South River Police Department is accepting applications for the position of part-time Police Dispatcher. Applications can be obtained online at www.policeapp.com or in person at Police Headquarters (see details below). A $35 fee applies if applying online.

The position of Police Dispatcher is a non-sworn position under the direction of the Chief of Police that is responsible for, but not limited to, receiving and dispatching emergency and non-emergency police, fire and EMS calls for service by telephone, radio and/or computer, and providing information to the public.

• All training provided - no certifications needed to apply
• Starting pay: $20 per hour

Minimum Qualifications:

• Must be a United States citizen
• Must be 18 years of age or older
• Must possess a minimum of a high school diploma or a GED equivalent
• Must have vision and hearing adequate to perform essential job functions
• Must possess a valid New Jersey driver’s license in good standing
• Must be able to pass an extensive background check

Applicants should have the ability to:

• Work 12 hour shifts (days, nights, weekends, and holidays)
• Work and multitask in a fast paced, stressful environment
• Read, write, and comprehend the English language
• Effectively communicate
