One Arrested for Burglary, Identity Theft, & Providing False Information to Officers
On February 2, 2023, Novato Police responded to The Square Shopping Center in Novato, regarding two businesses that had been broken into the night before. FBI Burgers and Marin Fitness were both the victims of a burglary. Surveillance video captured an person walking through the businesses with a crowbar. They stole registers, safes, and other property.
Several hours later, NPD received a call from officers at the San Pablo Police Department in Contra Costa County. San Pablo Officers had pulled over a stolen car and located items that belonged to FBI Burgers and Marin Fitness during the investigation.
NPD Detectives went to San Pablo to gather evidence and spoke with the driver of the vehicle. The man was identified as 42-year-old, Paul Amey Jr., a Hercules resident. Amey was arrested on two counts of burglary, identity theft, and providing a fake name to police. After booking Amey into the Marin County Jail, NPD Officers and Detectives returned the stolen items back to FBI Burger and Marin Fitness.
