Snow Emergency Street Update & Other Reminders
The parking ban on Snow Emergency Streets in South River will be lifted effective 2:00 PM today, February 13th. Vehicles will be permitted to be parked on these streets after that time.
Since the parking ban has been in effect, in addition to responding to routine calls for service, officers issued 90 summonses and towed 9 vehicles that were parked on Snow Emergency Streets. Prior to doing so, efforts were made to reach vehicle owners which included NIXLE alerts and social media postings along with officers making PA announcements, utilizing sirens, and going to the residences of vehicle owners.
Residents and business owners are also reminded of the following:
• As per South River Borough ordinance, all sidewalks must be cleared of snow within 24 hours after the snowfall stops.
• When removing snow from driveways and sidewalks, do not throw the snow into the street. Instead, place it onto other areas such as your lawn or yard.
• If safe to do so, ensure fire hydrants on or near your property are clear in order to assist First Responders in the event of an emergency.
