News Release: Police Arrest Masseur for Sexual Assault
Police have arrested a massage therapist for sexual assault.
On Friday, November 10, 2023, at about 6:53 p.m., our 24-hour dispatch center received a call from a woman in her twenties reporting that she been sexually assaulted by her masseur earlier that day at Massage Envy at 4335 El Camino Real.
The investigation revealed that the suspect had sexually assaulted the victim during a massage appointment. The victim did not sustain any physical injury. The ensuing investigation identified the suspect as 42-year-old Arturo Gomez of San Jose.
Detectives submitted the case to the Santa Clara County District Attorney’s Office, who filed two felony counts (sexual penetration and sexual battery) against the suspect. A Santa Clara County Superior Court judge signed a warrant for the suspect’s arrest on January 18, 2024.
On Thursday, February 8, 2024, at about 5:00 p.m., officers took the suspect into custody without incident at the home of one of his relatives in the 400 block of Washington Street in San Jose. Police booked the suspect into the Santa Clara County Main Jail pursuant to the warrant. The suspect’s booking photograph is available at www.cityofpaloalto.org/PAPDnews.
The administrative personnel of the business worked collaboratively with investigators and terminated the suspect as soon as they learned of this incident. Through the investigation, officers are aware that the suspect had previously worked at other massage establishments in the South Bay. At this time, though, police are not aware of any additional victims.
