Earlier today, March 6, 2024, at 6:55 a.m. Sheriff’s Office deputies were dispatched to a home on Old Wild Horse Road, Hilton Head Island, S.C. for a report of gunfire.

Deputies arrived and found a 40-year-old Port Royal, S.C.  man suffering from fatal gunshot wounds.  

The preliminary investigation indicates that the deceased is a co-worker of someone who lives at the home where the shooting occurred.

Sheriff’s investigators are reviewing the circumstances surrounding the incident.  They are gathering information and interviewing relevant parties to ensure a thorough understanding of the events leading up to the shooting.

This is believed to be an isolated incident and there is no threat to the public.
