Special Needs Registry
The South River Police Department is reminding residents about the Middlesex County Special Needs Registry, a joint effort between the Middlesex County Prosecutor's Office and the South River Police Department.
About the Special Needs Registry
The Middlesex County Special Needs Registry is a no cost, voluntary service open to any individual with special needs who resides, works, or attends school in Middlesex County. The purpose of the registry is to help law enforcement and first responders better assist special needs residents during an emergency situation or a police encounter. The registry provides crucial information to first responders regarding a registrant’s special needs including physical or mental impairment, emergency contact information, physical description, and current photograph.

What information is needed to register?
The registration process includes the registrant’s personal identifiers such as their name, address, date of birth, height, weight, emergency contact information, recent photo, and details about their special needs. Optional information fields include more detailed medical history, and social worker information.
Registry Decals
Each registrant will be provided with decals of various sizes that can be placed on the front entrance of the registrant’s residence as well as on the window of any vehicle in which they regularly travel. The purpose of the decal is to alert first responders that someone in the residence or vehicle has some degree of special need and they should respond accordingly. The use of decals by registrants is strictly voluntary and is not required.
