Update as of 3:40 p.m.: Our search of Gunn High School is complete. No threats were found. Police and school officials have lifted the shelter-in-place and students will be dismissed as usual at 3:50 p.m.
Per school district officials, they lifted the shelter-in-place at Fletcher Middle School earlier at the conclusion of their regular school day There was never any unconfirmed threat directed at *that* school.
We thank everyone for their patience; we know these events can be extremely stressful for all involved. We will have a news release out later with details of what occurred once we have had a chance to complete the initial investigation. We will have no further live updates on Twitter/X.

Officers are on scene at Gunn High School at 780 Arastradero Road investigating an unconfirmed threat towards the school. School officials have placed the campus in a “shelter-in-place” status while officers investigate.
All students and staff are safe at this time. As we get accurate information to share, we will post it to our Twitter/X account at www.twitter.com/PaloAltoPolice. A news release will follow at the end of the incident, and we will post that here on Nextdoor also.
School officials have also placed Fletcher Middle School at 655 Arastradero Road in a “shelter-in-place” status as a precautionary measure, as it is nearby to Gunn High School.
