Middle School Assault Leads to Multiple Arrests
On Friday (5/24), around 1PM, the Novato Police Department was notified about an incident that had just occurred at Sinaloa Middle School.
Initial investigation revealed that after lunchtime, a group of students had planned to assault another student. As the first student was being assaulted, additional students gathered, started recording the incident with their phones, and encouraging the fight. A second student stepped in to stop the fight and was also assaulted. Both students sustained moderate injuries and were taken to the hospital for evaluation.
In partnership with the Novato Unified School District and Sinaloa Middle School staff, the Novato Police Department immediately initiated an investigation. All involved parties were quickly identified.
Yesterday (5/28), the Novato Police Investigations Section located and arrested eight Sinaloa students that initiated the altercation. The arrested students range in ages from 12 to 14. They were booked into the Marin County Juvenile Hall for conspiracy and felony assault charges.
