The South River Police Department is accepting applications for the positions of full-time and part-time Police Dispatchers. The position of Police Dispatcher is a non-sworn position under the direction of the Chief of Police that is responsible for, but not limited to, receiving and dispatching emergency and non-emergency police, fire, and EMS calls for service by telephone, radio and/or computer, and providing information to the public.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Must be a United States Citizen.
• Must be 18 years of age or older.
• Must possess a minimum of a high school diploma or a GED equivalent.
• Must have vision and hearing adequate to perform essential job functions.
• Must possess a valid New Jersey driver’s license in good standing.
• Must be able to pass an extensive background check and drug test.

Applicants should also have the ability to work 12-hour shifts (days, nights, weekends, and holidays), work and multitask in a fast-paced and stressful environment, read, write, and comprehend the English language, and communicate effectively.
