Free Safety Class Available for Teen Drivers (Ages 15-19)!

Do you have a newly-licensed or soon-to-be-licensed teen driver at home?  Well, our friends at the California Highway Patrol are offering a free two-hour class at their Redwood City office on Thursday, July 11, at 5:30 p.m. (in English) and Thursday, July 18, at 5:30 p.m. (in Spanish).

The class, called "Start Smart," is intended for the teen driver and a parent.  CHP instructors will speak have candid conversations about crash avoidance techniques as well as the problems caused by excessive speed, DUI, and distracted driving.

We here at the Palo Alto Police Department strongly encourage parents of new drivers to take advantage of this valuable program.  For more details about the class, visit https://www.chp.ca.gov/programs-services/programs/youth-programs/start-smart-driving-smart-to-stay-safe.  If you'd like to attend, you'll need to RSVP in advance by e-mailing CHP Officer Sophie Lu at [email protected] (for the class in English) or CHP Officer Carlos Cortes-Alvarez at [email protected] (for the class in Spanish).
