A Severe Thunderstorm Watch Is in effect for the area until 9 p.m. this evening.
Thunderstorms through this evening could be severe with locally damaging wind gusts of up to 45 - 60 mph locally. Tree and powerline damage is possible. Frequent cloud to ground lightning will also accompany the stronger thunderstorms.
Storms will also be capable of heavy rain. Some locations could get multiple rounds of storms, increasing the potential for flash flooding, especially in areas with poor drainage. Although storms may linger past midnight, overnight storms aren`t expected to have as much potential for heavy rainfall.
