Severe weather Thursday through the weekend 
Today through the weekend, Stokes County is expected to be impacted by Hurricane Debby. We are expecting several inches of rain and wind gust that could reach 45mph. Please make plans for potential power outages and avoid areas that are prone to flooding. Please keep all of your law enforcement, fire fighters, DOT workers, line workers, and other emergency personnel in your prayers as they are the ones handling calls for service in this weather. If you must be out, drive slowly and cautiously as trees may be down or a roadway flooded that can surprise you. Keep your phones charged and flashlights ready with fresh batteries.
