Stormy day on tap today - Tornado and Flood Watches, Wind Advisory in effect
The North Brunswick Office of Emergency Management advises residents that a stormy day in on the way. Tornado and Flood Watches, along with a Wind Advisory are in effect.
Heavy rainfall associated with the remnants of Debby will produce rainfall amounts of 1 to 2 inches with locally higher amounts of 3 inches or more possible. Tropical downpours carry a higher risk for flash flooding and some poor drainage issues.
Please be very careful if you are driving this afternoon and early evening. If you come to a flooded road, play it safe and turn around.
Any storm can enhance already gusty winds today, perhaps even spawning isolated tornadoes. The greatest risk is late afternoon and evening.
Gusty winds during the day will blow around unsecured objects. Frequent gusts of 35 to 45 mph winds will be possible which when combined with saturated grounds will have the potential to bring down trees. Tree limbs could be blown down and a few power outages may result.
In case of a power outage, please call PSE&G at 1-800-436-7734.
