ARRAIGNMENT/BAIL STATUS: Guzman-Rodriguez was processed at Amsterdam Police Headquarters where he was arraigned in Amsterdam City Court and remanded to the custody of the Montgomery County Correctional Facility without bail.
INCIDENT NARRATIVE: On August 15, 2024 at approximately 12:25 A.M., the Amsterdam Police department received a report of a patient that presented to Saint Mary’s Hospital emergency room with injuries consistent with an assault. Members of the Amsterdam Police patrol division and the Amsterdam Police detective bureau responded and observed the victim to have suffered multiple stab wounds and lacerations to the body and head. Through the course of the investigation the suspect in the attack was identified as Adan D. Guzman-Rodriguez. Amsterdam detectives located and interviewed Guzman-Rodriguez at Amsterdam Police headquarters during the morning hours of August 15, 2024 where he was then held for processing on the above charges.
The victim in this case has been treated for their injuries and released from the hospital.
The Amsterdam Police Department was assisted by the Office of the Montgomery County District Attorney Lorraine Diamond.
While there was probable cause for this arrest, all persons are presumed innocent until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law.
