2 Pine Hall Residents Arrested for Breaking and Entering
On August 17th, 2024, the Stokes County Sheriff’s Office’s patrol division was notified of a Breaking and Entering at the residence on Highway 311 North in the Walnut Cove area of Stokes County. Upon investigation by the patrol division, it was determined that someone had made entry and stolen numerous items. Detectives with the Criminal Investigations Division were notified and began following leads.
During the investigation, detectives were able to establish that James Hattaway was a person of interest into the break-in. Detectives then established probable cause to apply for a search warrant for the residence of James Hattaway, located at 1022 Pole Bridge Road in the Pine Hall community.
On August 20th,2024, detectives executed the search warrant at Mr. Hathaway’s residence. During the search of the Pole Bridge address, numerous items that had been reported stolen from the residence on Highway 311 North were located at this location. Also, during the search, illegal narcotics was located inside the residence.
“I’d like to thank all of our deputies and detectives for their hard work and persistence to find those responsible for this crime”, says Sheriff Lemons.
Mr. Hattaway was then arrested and taken before a judicial official where he was charged with the following:
1 - Count of Felony Breaking and Entering
1 - Count of Felony Possession of Stolen Property
1 - Count of Felony Larceny of Stolen Property
1 - Count of Felony Possession of Schedule II Controlled Substance
1 - Count of Felony Maintaining a Dwelling
Mr. Hattaway was then given a “no bond” at that time and was placed into the Stokes County Jail.
During the execution of the search warrant, a Mr. Kasim Peterkin was located at the residence. Mr. Peterkin was found to be in possession of some of the stolen items from the Highway 311 North residence.
Mr. Peterkin was then arrested and taken before a judicial official where he was charged with the following:
1 - Count of Possession of Stolen Property
1 - Count of Possession of Firearm by Felon
1 - Count of Felony Possession of Cocaine
1 - Count of Felony maintain a Dwelling/Place for Controlled Substance.
1 - Count of Misdemeanor Drug Possession
1 - Count of Probation Violation out of Forsyth County, NC
Mr. Peterkin was then given a secured bond total amount of $110,000.00.
