While Orange County is currently NOT meeting excessive temperature activation triggers (typically 3 or more days of 95 degree heat (coastal) or 100 degree heat (inland) in 5 or more OC cities).
This current heatwave is not meeting these thresholds; however, we have preemptively messaged the community though social media and a Nixle alert as well as shared information with City staff. We are monitoring changes to the weather forecast and are in close communication with the County and our neighboring cities who may have greater impacts that CM and need support for their residents.
As a reminder, cooling centers are any public facing government building where residents can go during normal business hours to get out of the heat and into the air conditioning. Our parks and rec staff are aware that the senior center and our public libraries are listed as cooling centers on the County website and with 211OC.
We urge you to stay hydrated and drink plenty of fluids, stay in an air-conditioned room, stay out of the sun, and check up on relatives and neighbors.
