9/6 - FIRST FRIDAYS
On Friday (9/6), Grant Ave will be closed for First Fridays from 4PM - 12AM. The closure will affect Grant Ave between Machin Ave and Reichert Ave (see map). The roadway will be closed to all vehicular traffic. Gates will close on Grant Ave at 5PM. Permanent signage has been installed in the area to notify the community of closure information. Join businesses downtown for First Fridays, a closed streets program designed to create a safe, pedestrian and bicycle-friendly shopping, dining, and recreation environment on Grant Avenue, between Machin and Reichert Avenues.

TRAVEL: You can walk, bike, drive, or take public transit — the choice is yours! The event locations are just a train or bus ride away and are conveniently located between the Novato Downtown SMART Station and the Redwood Boulevard/Grant Avenue Transit Station. Additionally, bike racks are available near the market on Sherman Avenue at Cain Lane and in the City Administrative Offices Parking Lot.

PUBLIC PARKING LOTS: Parking locations have been outlined on the attached map.

• Depot Lot at the Novato Downtown SMART Station
• Whole Foods Garage; Floor 2
• City Administrative Offices Lot at 922 Machin Avenue
• City Administrative Offices Underground Lot at Cain Lane; after 5pm only

 
TRAFFIC: We remind our community members of the potential impacts on traffic during commute times in the immediate area. Expect traffic delays and use alternative routes when necessary. An increase of pedestrians is expected during the closure times. REMEMBER to drive safe, slow, and keep an eye out, as families and small children may be crossing roadways for both events. Do not park in driveways, restricted parking areas, or in red zones. The community’s patience is greatly appreciated.
