Downed trees, powerlines and power outages pose hazards Friday morning
As of 5:25 a.m. today, September 27, 2024, now Tropical Storm Helene continues to impact Beaufort County. Our area remains under a Tropical Storm Warning until 1:15 p.m. and a Tornado Watch until 8 a.m.
The Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office Communications Center has received dozens of reports of downed trees and powerlines. Due to these storm reports and current conditions, travel may be hazardous.
If travel is necessary, please use extra caution. We also ask that you keep in mind traffic signals may be out due to power outages and trees may be blocking roadways.
Currently, Dominion is reporting nearly 37,000 customers are without power. Palmetto Electric is reporting more than 20,000 customers without power.
