Lake Tahoma is experiencing a significant high water event. 7.2 feet is currently spilling over the spillway. Lake Tahoma staff are at the dam and constantly monitoring the structure. At this time, there are NO signs of structure damage or compromise.
Life threatening flash flooding is occurring across McDowell County with a large amount of water rescues occurring. Multiple people are trapped due to flash flooding and downed trees, some falling on structures. 911 is inundated with calls for service. Multiple communities are isolated and emergency personnel are becoming stranded due to trees falling along roadways. Only drive if it's a life threatening situation. Getting on the roads at this time could cost you your life as rescuers may not be able to reach you.
