The NJ Forest Fire Service has implemented statewide Stage 3 Fire Restrictions in response to the prolonged dry conditions and increased wildfire activity. While these restrictions deal with activities in our parks and forest, the Franklin Township Fire Prevention Department would like to remind residents that during this heightened period, residents should exercise additional fire precautions around their homes and businesses.
Make sure to properly dispose of smoking materials. With the dry conditions, improperly discarded smoking materials can easily ignite mulch, leaves, dry grass and similar materials.
Residents should consider not using their outdoor fireplaces unless they are gas fueled.
