Debris Collection Update: Expanded Routes and Multiple Passes Planned

Debris removal trucks are scheduled to begin servicing US 221 N and NC 80 by the end of this week. As debris collection trucks make their first pass, it is important for citizens to remember that these trucks will make multiple passes along the right of way. You do not need to place all of your debris out at one time. Once the Emergency Operations Center confirms the schedule with US Army Corps of Engineers, we will notify residents through Nixle alerts and publish updated schedules on our recovery website at www.mcdowellgov.com/helene. Free Medical Clinic Provides Essential Care Through November 16

The free medical clinic located on US 221 N remains open daily from 8:00 AM to 7:00 PM, offering no-cost services to the public. This clinic will continue to operate until November 16, 2024, ensuring essential medical care is accessible to our community. We are deeply grateful to the medical providers from across the state who have deployed here to deliver this vital support. Their dedication and expertise are making a significant difference for those in need during this recovery period.

Old Fort Comfort Station Relocating to 1 Water Street with Reopening Targeted for November 6

Our EOC Logistics Team has been hard at work relocating the comfort station in Old Fort to its new location at 1 Water Street, Old Fort, NC. A laundry trailer and shower trailer have already been moved, and a water tanker is on-site as work continues to hook the shower and laundry services to the water supply. We will notify the community once the comfort station is reopened, with a target date of November 6, 2024. Thank you for your patience as we work to restore this valuable resource.
