Fairfield Man Arrested for Murder of Pedestrian 
Today, November 7, at around 11:30 am, a man was walking through the Solano Town Center’s northside parking lot when he was struck by a person driving a white Dodge pickup truck.
The driver, identified as 25-year-old Fairfield resident Vakautakava Tangitau, proceeded to run over the victim multiple times, before fleeing in his vehicle.
A witness followed Tangitau while simultaneously reporting the incident to police Dispatch. Fairfield Police officers immediately responded, stopping Tangitau in the 800 block of East Tabor Avenue, where he was taken into custody without incident.
Tangitau, who is known to officers due to previous mental health calls, is being booked into Solano County Jail for Murder.
The motive for this murder remains under investigation. No further details are an available at this time, and the victim’s name will not be released pending next-of-kin notifications.
