'Tis the season for gift-giving and package deliveries, which also means porch pirates will be on the prowl.
With the increase in online purchases and deliveries to your door, please be on the lookout for package thieves and take some extra precautions when having items delivered to your door.
Here are a few suggested preventative options:
-Track your package and remove the item from your porch as soon as possible.
-Select delivery days for when someone is home.
-Ask a neighbor to remove packages if you are away.
-Require a signature for high dollar items.
-Ship your item to the store and pickup at your convenience.
-Use a security camera if possible to view packages being delivered.
The Public Safety Department is on the lookout to crack down on these crimes of opportunity and we could use your help too! If you do have a package stolen, please report the theft as soon as possible.
