Jury Scam
Unfortunately, criminals do not take off time for any reason. They are at it again trying to call citizens and pretend to be an officer. They are telling those they are able make contact with, that they must send money because of a wide variety of reasons, such as, missed jury duty or you have a warrant for your arrest. Although an officer may contact you on the phone to try and coordinate getting papers served, an officer will NEVER try to get you to send money. If you are asked to send money or go to a location other than the Sheriff’s Office or Police station, then it is a scam. When you are in doubt, hang-up, call your local law enforcement agency using the number you know to be correct and verify anything you are not sure about. We want everyone to have a safe and great Thanksgiving.
