Cold weather shelters to open Tuesday, December 3, for those in need 
Two cold weather shelters will open on Tuesday, December 3, 2024, for those in need of a warm shelter due to forecasted below freezing temperatures.
In Northern Beaufort County, Sea Island Presbyterian Church, located at 81 Lady’s Island Drive, Beaufort, will open at 5 p.m. on Tuesday. This shelter will close at 8 a.m. Wednesday morning. Dinner and breakfast will be provided. Showers will also be available. Sea Island Presbyterian Church advises no weapons, alcohol, smoking, or pets are permitted; however, service animals will be allowed.
In Southern Beaufort County, Christ Lutheran Church, located at 829 William Hilton Parkway, Hilton Head Island, will open at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. This shelter will close at 7:30 a.m. Wednesday morning. Dinner and a morning to-go meal will be provided. Christ Lutheran Church advises no weapons, alcohol, smoking, or pets are permitted; however, service animals are allowed. Transportation to this shelter will be provided by Deep Well Project, located at 80 Capital Drive, Hilton Head Island, at 5:30 p.m. and 9 p.m.
