Traffic Alert: Events across Beaufort County this weekend to plan ahead for
The holiday season is underway and there are several events across Beaufort County this weekend, December 6-8, 2024, travelers need to plan for. Please see the below information for events and their respective locations.
Hilton Head Island:
- Saturday, December 7, 2024
- Nutcracker 5K, 7:30 – 10 a.m.
- The race starts in front of Hilton Head Running Company located at The Village at Wexford. The course includes Dunnagans Alley and Arrow Road. It ends in front of Java Burrito located at The Village of Wexford. Beaufort County Sheriff’s deputies will be along the route for traffic control.
- Town of Hilton Head Island’s 3rd Annual Tree Lighting Ceremony, 5:30 – 7:30 p.m.
- The annual tree lighting and festivities take place at Lowcountry Celebration Park located on Pope Avenue. Increased traffic congestion in the Coligny area is expected during this time.
- Nutcracker 5K, 7:30 – 10 a.m.
Bluffton:
- Friday, December 6, 2024
- Town of Bluffton’s Annual Tree Lighting Ceremony, 5:30 p.m. – until
- The annual tree lighting, Santa’s workshop, and movie in the park event takes place in Old Town Bluffton at Martin Family and DuBois Park. Increased traffic congestion in the Old Town area is expected during this time.
- Town of Bluffton’s Annual Tree Lighting Ceremony, 5:30 p.m. – until
- Saturday, December 7, 2024
- Town of Bluffton’s 53rd Annual Christmas Parade, 10 a.m. – until
- The annual Christmas Parade steps off at 10 a.m. in front of Town Hall located at 20 Bridge Street. The parade route includes multiple streets in Old Town Bluffton to include Calhoun Street, May River Road, and Pin Oak Street before ending on 9th Avenue. The parade route is closed to traffic, as well as nearby streets. Increased traffic congestion in the Old Town Bluffton area is expected to begin at 8 a.m. and continue throughout the morning into the early afternoon hours.

Port Royal:
- Saturday, December 7, 2024
- Junior Service League of Beaufort’s 9th Annual Touch a Truck, 10 a.m. – 3 p.m.
- The annual Touch a Truck event takes place at the Bluff in Port Royal located at 809 Paris Avenue. Increased congestion in this area is expected during this time.
- Junior Service League of Beaufort’s 9th Annual Touch a Truck, 10 a.m. – 3 p.m.
Beaufort:
- Friday, December 6, 2024,
- City of Beaufort’s Night on the Town, 6 – 9 p.m.
- The Night on the Town includes the 3rd Annual Christmas Movie Night and takes place at the Henry C. Chambers Waterfront Park. From 3:30 – 11 p.m., Bay Street will be closed from Carteret Street to Newcastle Street. Increased traffic congestion in this area is expected during this time.
- City of Beaufort’s Night on the Town, 6 – 9 p.m.

- Light Up the Night Boat Parade, 5:30 p.m. – until
- This annual event takes place along the Henry C. Chambers Waterfront Park. Increased traffic congestion in this area is expected during this time.

- Sunday, December 8, 2024
- Beaufort’s Annual Christmas Parade, 3 p.m. – until
- The annual Christmas Parade’s route includes multiple streets throughout the downtown Beaufort area. The following roads will be closed starting at 3 p.m. and reopening after the parade: Boundary Street from Adventure Street to Carteret Street, Carteret Street from Boundary Street to Bay Street, Bay Street from Carteret Street to Bladen Street, and Bladen Street from Bay Street to Boundary Street. Be advised the Woods Memorial Bridge will be closed during the parade. Increased congestion in this area is expected during this time.
