News Release: Police Investigating Late Night Fatal Motorcycle Collision
Police are investigating a fatal solo-vehicle collision that occurred last night on Oregon Expressway.
On Monday, December 16, 2024, at about 11:15 p.m., an officer on regular patrol came upon a motorcyclist down in the roadway on Oregon Expressway at Alma Street. Other officers responded immediately, as did personnel from the Palo Alto Fire Department. Paramedics transported the motorcyclist, a man in his twenties, to a local hospital, where he died a short time later.
The preliminary investigation revealed that the motorcyclist was traveling westbound on Oregon Expressway when the motorcycle left the roadway and struck the curb. Personnel from the Specialized Traffic Accident Reconstruction (STAR) team responded to the scene to continue the investigation. At this time, it is unknown if drugs or alcohol were a factor, and the cause of the collision remains under investigation. Police do not believe any other vehicle was involved. The roadway was closed for about four hours so officers could safely investigate the collision.
Police are not releasing the motorcyclist’s identity; that information can be obtained from the Santa Clara County Office of the Medical Examiner-Coroner.
