A new wildfire update from the City of Beverly Hills
This is Beverly Hills Mayor Lester Friedman in the Emergency Operations Center with Fire Chief Greg Barton continuing to monitor conditions.
Chief please bring us up to date…
Thank you, Mayor. Firefighters continue to make good progress on the fires in the region. However, winds in the region will be higher today and tonight. Our crews are actively patrolling and monitoring conditions in Beverly Hills. As always, if you see something of concern, please call 911.
Thank you Chief.
The Air Quality Index is considered moderate at this time and currently, there is no active smoke advisory; however, there is a windblown dust and ash advisory through Wednesday at 7 p.m.
LA County Public Health has issued a temporary order banning the use of power air blowing devices including leaf blowers which can stir up debris. Those with respiratory conditions should consider wearing face coverings.
Also, there are reports of scams and criminals taking advantage of fire victims.
Some are posing as government representatives offering disaster relief at a cost -- and false crowd-funding sites claiming to support victims.
It is important to always verify credentials, check licenses and refer to official government organizations such as FEMA for accurate information.
Please remember to monitor the latest communications from the City of Beverly Hills.
And on behalf of the entire Beverly Hills City Council, stay safe.
