* WHAT...Urban area and small stream flooding caused by excessive rainfall continues.

* WHERE...Portions of central and northern West Virginia, including the following counties, in central West Virginia, Braxton. In northern West Virginia, Barbour, Lewis, Randolph and Upshur.

* WHEN...Until 400 PM EST.

* IMPACTS...Flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations is imminent or occurring. Streams continue to rise due to excess runoff from earlier rainfall.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - At 1215 PM EST, Doppler radar indicated heavy rain. Flooding continues to be observed today, especially across Barbour County. - Some locations that will experience flooding include... Buckhannon, Philippi, Sutton, Audra State Park, Belington, Gassaway, Rock Cave, Junior, Burnsville, Flatwoods, French Creek, Horner, Lorentz, Walkersville, Tallmansville, Ireland, Overhill, Hodgesville, Century and Ellamore. - http://www.weather.gov/safety/flood

Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood deaths occur in vehicles. The saturated ground has produced conditions ripe for landslides and debris flows on steep slopes around the area. Residents with homes on or at the base of hillsides should be aware of the potential for landslides and watch for trees leaning in unusual orientations, water and mud seepage where not expected and other signs of potential ground movement. Report flooding to the National Weather Service by calling toll free, 800 401 9535, when you can do so safely.
