To assist motorists, message boards, traffic control devices, and smart work zone technology will be deployed. Drivers are encouraged to seek alternate routes and stay informed through the City of Manchester and DPW’s website, Facebook, and Nixle alerts.
The $18.9 million project is contracted to New England Infrastructure of Hudson, MA, with funding from the New Hampshire Department of Transportation and the Federal Highway Administration (80%), and the City of Manchester (20%). Completion is scheduled for November 2026.

Eastbound Traffic to Shift to Westbound Bridge
Bridge Deck Replacement to Enhance Safety and Traffic Flow
MANCHESTER, NH – The City of Manchester’s Department of Public Works (DPW) announced today that rehabilitation work on the Amoskeag Bridge will require full closure of the Eastbound Bridge starting March 31, 2025.
- Amoskeag Bridge Eastbound will be closed, and traffic will be rerouted to the Westbound Bridge, which will accommodate one lane in each direction.
- Amoskeag Bridge Westbound on-ramp from Canal Street will remain closed during this phase.
