Advisory

Potential for severe thunderstorms in East JeffCo: thunder, wind, hail all possible approx. 5 - 9PM.

The National Weather Service has placed East Jefferson County under Level 1 - Marginal Risk for severe thunderstorms later this afternoon and evening. The NWS estimates an approximate 10% chance each for hail up to 1" and wind gusts greater than 40MPH.

It is estimated that the systems may arrive in south county around 6PM, and north county around 7PM, with an hour or two margin of error on either side. The systems will move fast, around 20 - 35MPH, so the duration of any impacts will be short-lived.

There exists small chances of tornadoes in other parts of Western Washington, but at this time, the NWS has not designated any part of Jefferson County as being at risk for tornadoes. Similarly, some areas have the potential for hail up to 2", but that is mostly confined to the I5 corridor.

Jefferson County residents are advised to exercise caution when traveling during these hours, and to consider bringing pets indoors. Use caution during any outside activities and have a plan to get indoors should the weather become too severe. Prepare for potential localized power outages.
