Attempted Residential Burglaries
The South River Police Department would like to inform residents that on March 28, 2025, at approximately 3:51 AM, our Patrol Division responded to an attempted burglary call at a residence centrally located in town. A short time later, Patrol Officers were dispatched to a second residence, also centrally located, regarding a second incident of the same nature.
It appears that both incidents involved the same three (3) actors who attempted to gain entry into each of the two (2) homes. Upon arrival of responding Patrol Officers, both areas were canvassed with negative results in locating the suspects or a suspect vehicle.
Both residences were monitored by the homeowner’s camera systems. Included are images of the actors and the alleged suspect vehicle.
Please be advised that when accompanying images are obtained from a private resident’s security camera, out of discretion and respect to the provider we do not provide exact locations. We believe it is critical to provide our community with as much information as possible, and we must balance that responsibility with respecting the privacy of the potential victim(s).
Burglars are opportunists, In order to eliminate their opportunities, please take extra steps to make sure all residential doors, windows, and gates are closed and locked. Secure your vehicles as burglars will attempt to gain entry in order to steal them if possible. If you are not home, it is suggested to have lights on timers and deliveries stopped or redirected elsewhere until your return. Please remember that the idea is to make it look like someone is home. We like to keep our residents informed so they remain vigilant. Residents with any questions and/or concerns or additional information on these specific incidents, please contact our Dispatch at 732-238-1000 or Lieutenant Edwin Yorek at 732-238-1000 ext 111.
Although the South River Police Department remains vigilant in preventing burglaries, we encourage our residents to help protect themselves by taking the following steps and precautions.
